Friday night was pretty spectacular. As you saw below, I was DJing a night of all Madonna songs at Mary’s. My roommate, Martha, actually opened the evening up with the slower hits and then I went on at about 11pm to take it from there.
It was amazing fun and, in true Madonna style, record breaking. By night’s end, Mary’s had the most sales they’d ever done as well as the most people. Bill, one of the owners, actually had to sit outside the door at one point and turn people away. Apparently walking around the block was the quickest way to get from the back of the bar to the front, so you know that shit was slammed.
I had the best seat in the house. The DJ booth overlooks the bar and hovers in its own little world above the crowd. I mixed between an ipod, my laptop, 2 DVD players, and a VHS player and danced myself into a sweaty mess while doing so. It was HOT. Like, blazing hot. Cram 100s of people into a tiny bar in the middle of August in Atlanta and that’s what you get.
Saturday I worked and wrote during the day and then went back to a restaurant I’d recently eaten at called Noni’s. It’s brand new and right down the street. The food and atmosphere is pretty good but I was going there, really, for another purpose. I wanted to get my good friend’s opinion (Rami, my regular partner-in-crime) on the place as a party spot. He walked in and saw what I saw: excellent potential. So we’re about to start throwing some parties.
I'm a guy in Atlanta with a blog, a video camera, and a library of a whole lotta randomness. I've been known to stalk a rock star or two. Or to sneak my way into Fashion Week. Or to bob for pig's feet among Rednecks. Whatever it is, I'll probably be breaking the rules and having a lot of fun doing it.
Watch some videos. Read my blog. Sign in and get on board. Who knows what'll happen next.
