When I first heard Baths, I kept referring to him as a band. Baths is a one-man show and is quite impressive to see live. I was fortunate enough to see him at CMJ this past spring and was amazed. He’s witty and adorable (he’s only 21 or so). The music is beautifully layered and complex, yet fun and danceable. Cerulean is one of my favorite albums of 2010.

Baths is playing tonight at the Masquerade. Doors are at 8:00 PM. Braids and Star Slinger open.

Tomorrow night, 08 FEB 2011, is Wild Nothing with Abe Vigoda at the Drunken Unicorn. Don’t miss this either. The last time Wild Nothing played, they opened up for Stars at Variety. This show will be much more intimate and I’m sure this might be the last time you will be able to catch both artists in such a small venue.

Deerhunter – Desire Lines

This is my favorite track off Deerhunters fourth studio album Halcyon Digest. Apparently the albums title is a reference to fond memories and even made up ones. When listening to this track it does seem to exude an odd sense of unremembered nostalgia.

Crocodiles – Sleep Forever

Check it! This track comes off of their self-titled sophomore record. It falls more to the hazy, synth-based side of things in contrast to their garage-y sounding first album. They are currently wrapping up a west coast tour and are headed off to Europe.

This is definitely one to check out if you’re up for something to do tonight. This is the bio from their Facebook page: Little Victory is the gay Fleetwood Mac. The Electric Shade Orchestra.  The punk Dorian Corey. Hide your lovers. I love it already! They’re playing tonight with Atlanta’s own Falcon Lords.

Show’s This Week

In: music, Nicole's Concert Series

Concert announcements for Spring 2011 are already surpassing all expectations. From the Coachella announcement a few days to daily updates on upcoming shows, it’s going to be a busy season. Dare I say that the 2011 Spring show schedule might be better than last year’s amazing Roctober?

Two shows in particular that I’m really looking forward to this week are Little Dragon 25 JAN 2011 at the Masquerade and Adron (with Little Tybee) on 27 JAN 2011 at the Earl.

Definitely diggin’ this one right now. Happy Monday doods!!
