As Atlanta prepares for The Great Thaw-Out that will be Saturday afternoon (as temperatures are expected to rise to a balmy 46 degrees), 1113′s ice rink is open for one more night only! THE LAST. Peace out ice.

I just got Kylie Minogue tickets in the 2nd freakin row! Like, Row BBB in the pit! I don’t know how this is possible but Kylie Minogue tickets are available right now – for all cities – through ArtistTicket.com. They don’t go on sale at Ticketmaster until January 22nd!
Go get tickets RIGHT NOW.
There seems to be a difference between the “Find Seats” link the the “Order” link. “Find Seats” will bring up specific seat numbers. “Order” is a general “You’ll get tickets in this section.”
Also, I found that the site was a little buggy. So sometimes I’d click “Find Seats” and they’d say “Sorry, We’re Out.” But then I’d open it in another browser or simply try again, and some amazing seat combo would pop up.
Twin Shadow (aka George Lewis Jr,) simulates Joy Division with his 80′s new wave beats. Definitely “tighty whitey dance party” worthy. His Forget LP came out late 2010. He’s headed out to tour Europe but will be coming back state side later this year!
Twin Shadow - Yellow Balloon
I just got home from work and slid up the driveway. I tell ya, five nights of ice are enough to make ya crazy. Atlanta is frozen solid. And apparently there’s no relief until Saturday. Since when do I pray for 40 degrees in the south?
Walking in the Highlands yesterday with Alli and Jenn:
Today was the first day I got out and actually drove around. I was surprised at how bad the roads (still) were. Traffic was at a practical standstill on Ponce, one of the main thoroughfares in/out of the city. It was reduced to one lane, each way, with many an icy obstacle even in those.
In the MLK district, I got stuck behind a slow-moving snow plow – plow up – with dude driving and totally talking on his cell phone. No wonder we’re a mess. I wish I’d gotten a picture.
I got home and tweeted the AJC Tweet of the Day:
Roads are still a mess but that McDonalds drive thru I just passed was SPOTLESS. Maybe next time Ronald should be in charge. #snowpocalypse
I’m sure the mayor really enjoyed that one. It was actually aimed at the state since a lot of the in-town roads are managed by them. But whatever. It was true either way.
Now, I’m off to bed to dream of my 40-degree-Sunday. (Geez.) I swear I’m still going to invent an app where I can turn my electric blanket on remotely so it’ll be ready when I get home!
Hey guys. I’ll be bringing you a track a day… sometimes new, sometimes old, but always something good! I’ve been diggin’ this song a lot lately. It’s super catchy. When I hear it I suddenly feel the need to break out into dance. (And yes, sometimes in my underwear as you’re sure to hear a lot more about).
These guys are from Ireland and their debut album came out March of last year. They are out on tour right now and are headed to Atlanta on the 25th of this month at The Masquerade. So you’ve got time to catch ‘em!
Two Door Cinema Club – Something Good Can Work
Most people like to end their years with a “Best Of” list. Not me. I like to start mine with a wish list. Here are a list of shows, correlating with new album releases, that I’d like to see in 2011.
Beastie Boys
Cut Copy
The Dears
Dirty Vegas
Fiona Apple
Fleet Foxes
The Go! Team
Hercules and Love Affair
Iron & Wine
Jamiroquai
Lykke Li
PJ Harvey (She has European dates, but no US dates on the books)
Radiohead (Maybe they will tour with RHCP and Atoms for Peace can open)
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Santigold
All of the artists/bands listed above have new albums expected in 2011. I’ll happily keep you posted on new tours/shows as they’re announced.
Have any on your wish list?
