#1: I quit my job and started a blog.
Well, really I was laid off due to “new economy funding” (or, lack thereof) but that’s okay… we’ll stick to “I quit” for now.
#2: I discovered a talent by stalking PJ Harvey.
My whole “career” as a filmmaker started because I wanted to meet PJ Harvey. I asked myself, ”what could I do to meet her?” So I researched the name and address of her management company, wrote them a letter, and I told them I was a big filmmaker in America (total lie) who wanted to make a documentary about following PJ Harvey. They said yes: I said, “FUCK!” Now I really had to make a movie.
So I grabbed some friends, followed PJ around the world trying to meet her, and did my best. Two years later my film premiers in London to a sold out crowd. A British Film Institute reviewer called it “…the finest rockumentary in quite some time” and it was an amazing night. People came out, they loved it, and Kyle discovers a talent. My status as international-trouble-maker-with-camera is solidified when Polly ends up threatening to sue me over music rights. Whoops. What are those?
The film dies in Atlanta but I’m still off and running. Live and learn. The biggest question I always get asked about the film is “did you ever end up meeting PJ Harvey?” I’ll never tell. You’ll just have to see the movie to find out.

#3: How old are you?
I’m somewhere between the age of 14 and 49.
#4: Where did you grow up?
I grew up all over the place (dad worked for National Security Agency) including Maryland, Germany, Florida, California, Maryland again, England, and now Atlanta, Georgia. Atlanta is the longest place I’ve lived anywhere, coming in at a record 8 years as of September 2008. I love this place and don’t plan to leave.

#5: Did you ever study film or editing or movie-making or anything like that?
Nope. I only ever got one “C” in college and it was in History of Film, Origins to 1965. (I never went.)
#6: What’s this blog about?
This blog is a couple of things. One, it is the story of my life, my friends, and the crazy shit that makes both of those things up.
Two, it’s a community. I want you to join. Comment on things, suggest things we do, but most of all… interact and meet people. You should suggest a video!
#7: Are you single?
Yes, quite happily.
#8: What’s this thing with you and mud?
Yeah, I don’t know. Back in 1994 a group of friends and I drove my beat up 1973 Volkswagen Bug from Baltimore, Maryland to Saugerties, New York. Our destination was the 2nd Woodstock. My friend Linda and I (who you can see with me in this video) ended up as the poster children for the event. Our picture was taken by the Associated Press and released around the world. My parents ended up calling me – from England – and asked, “hey Kyle, did you go to Woodstock by chance? We’re looking at your picture in the local paper.”
Thirteen years later I attendthe Redneck Olympics in Dublin, Georgia (for this blog, mind you) and end up in National Geographic with a two-page spread. You can see the episode here and the picture here: I don’t get it either…
I'm a guy in Atlanta with a blog, a video camera, and a library of a whole lotta randomness. I've been known to stalk a rock star or two. Or to sneak my way into Fashion Week. Or to bob for pig's feet among Rednecks. Whatever it is, I'll probably be breaking the rules and having a lot of fun doing it.
